Sublingual: Each tablet contains Isosorbide dinitrate 5 mg.
Tablets: Each tablet contains Isosorbide dinitrate 10, 30 mg.
The action of Isosorbide dinitrate is the relaxation of both arterial and venous vascular smooth muscle, including coronary artery. Isosorbide dinitrate is absorbed from the sublingual mucosa. When administered sublingually, Isosorbide dinitrate has an onset of action of 2-5 minutes and duration of relief from angina pectoris is 1-3 hours. After oral administration, the action of drug begins in 20-40 minutes and lasts 4-6 hours.
For the treatment and prophylaxis of angina pectoris.
SUBLINGUAL: The dosage is administered sublingually 5-10 mg (1-2 sublingual tablet) for acute angina pectoris or every 2-3 hours for the prophylaxis of acute angina pectoris.
TABLETS: Initial dose is 5-20 mg orally 4 times daily.
Maintenance dose is 10-40 mg orally 4 times a day or as directed by the physician.
Hypersensitivity to isosorbide dinitrate or to other nitrates.
Contraindicated in patient with severe anemia, closed angle glaucoma.
Intraocular pressure may be increased, therefore, caution is required in administering to patients with glaucoma.
Excessive dosage may produce severe headache. Lowering the dose and using analgesics will help control the headache. Discontinue the drug if blurred vision or dry mouth occurs.
Marked symptomatic orthostatic hypotension may occur. When use concomitantly with calcium channel blockers and nitrates. Dose adjustment of either agent may be necessary.
Severe hypotension may occur when alcohol and nitrates were used in combination.

Use in Children: The safety and efficacy for use in children have not been established.
Use in Pregnancy: Safety for use during pregnancy has not been established. Use only when clearly needed and when the potential benefits outweigh the potential hazards to the fetus.
Use in Lactation: It is not known whether nitrates are excreted in breast milk. A decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother and the potential risk to the infant.
The adverse effect occurring most frequently is headache which may be severe and persistent. Headache can be controlled by temporary dosage reduction or concomitant administration of common analgesics. This symptom disappears within 1 week of continuous, uninterrupted therapy. Drug rash, exfoliative dermatitis, flushing and postural hypotension can occur.
