Isosorbide dinitrate
Indications/Uses
Treatment & prophylaxis of angina pectoris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Initially 5-20 mg qid. Maintenance dose: 10-40 mg qid. SL tab 5-10 mg for treatment, or every 2-3 hr as prophylaxis.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to isosorbide dinitrate or other nitrates. Severe anemia, closed-angle glaucoma.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment if blurred vision or dry mouth occurs. Patients w/ glaucoma. Marked symptomatic orthostatic hypotension when used concomitantly w/ Ca channel blockers. Severe hypotension when used in combination w/ alcohol. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache. Drug rash, exfoliative dermatitis, flushing & postural hypotension.
Drug Interactions
Hypotensive effect enhanced by alcohol, nitrates, β-blocker, antihypertensive agents, sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil.
