Fertility: There are no data regarding the possible effects of colchicine on fertility.
Pregnancy: No malformations or foetal/neonatal toxicity were observed after exposure of a limited number of pregnant women with familial Mediterranean fever to colchicine. However, studies with colchicine in animals have shown teratogenic effects. Therefore, as a precaution, and due to the lack of controlled studies in humans and its ability to cross the placenta, with the subsequent risk to the foetus due to its mechanism of action, use of colchicine during pregnancy is contraindicated (see Contraindications and Pharmacology: Toxicology: Preclinical safety data under Actions).
Breast-feeding: Colchicine is excreted in human breast milk.
It is recommended not to administer it during breast-feeding.
