Pregnancy: In cases of paracervical block the risk of reactions such as bradycardia/tachycardia in the foetus increases, therefore foetal heart rate must be closely monitored.

Lactation: Bupivacaine passes into breast milk, but the risk of this affecting the child appears unlikely with therapeutic doses. It is not known whether adrenaline passes into breast milk, but the risk of an effect on the child appears unlikely with therapeutic doses.
