Incompatibilities: Alkalisation can cause precipitation, as bupivacaine is limitedly soluble at pH above 6.5. In addition, alkaline solutions can cause rapid degradation of adrenaline.
Instructions for Use/Handling: Due to instability of adrenaline, the product should not be sterilised.
The solution for injection must not be kept in such a way that it can act on metals, e.g. cannulas or syringes with metal parts. Metal ions may be released, which can cause swelling in the area of the injection and more rapid degradation of the adrenaline.
