Lidocaine HCl
Dosage/Direction for Use
Percutaneous inj & IV regional nerve block Individualized dosage. Max: 4.5 mg/kg/dose (300 mg/dose), do not repeat w/in 2 hr. For paracervical & continuous epidural, do not repeat more frequently than every 90 min.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to another local anaesth of amide type.
Special Precautions
Not to be given to patients w/ hypovolaemia, heart block or other conduction disturbances. May increase creatine phosphokinase conc when administered via IM inj. Patients w/ CHF, bradycardia, or resp depression. Hepatic impairment or pseudocholinesterase deficiency. Renal impairment. Pregnancy. Fetal bradycardia & neonatal resp depression hypotonia in large doses. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypotension, HTN; nausea, vomiting; paraesthesia, dizziness; bradycardia.
Drug Interactions
May increase levels/effect of prilocaine. Increased levels/effect w/ abiraterone acetate, amiodarone, β-blockers, conivaptan, moderate & strong CYP1A2 & CYP3A4 inhibitors, darunavir, dasatinib, deferasirox, disopyramide, hyaluronidase, ivacaftor, mifepristone, saquinavir, telaprevir. Decreased levels/effect w/ strong CYP1A2 & CYP3A4 inducers, cyproterone, deferasirox, tocilizumab, etravirine; herb & nutraceutical.
