Pharmacology: Acemetacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. It blocks the action of COX and reduces the production of prostaglandins, which causes pain and swelling.
Pharmacokinetics: Acemetacin is easily absorbed upon oral administration, protein binding is 81.5, 93.7% and is metabolized to Indomethacin in the liver, which becomes the active metabolite. The main excretion is eliminated by the kidney, partial excretions are by the bile and feces.
After taken 8 consecutive days of ACEO Capsules Retard, the time to reaches the maximum blood concentration is average of 4.5 hours. And, the average half-life of Acemetacin is about 4.8 hours. The average half-life of Indomethacin is about 8.2 hours.
