Indomethacin (Vi-gel) is a topical form of indomethacin, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It also works as topical analgesic. Each application of Indomethacin (Vi-gel) focuses only on the affected region (inflamed portion). Thus, resulting to a minimal adverse side effects. Indomethacin (Vi-gel) is available as a clear pale yellow cream containing 10 mg of indomethacin per gram of cream.
Each gram contains: Indomethacin 10 mg.
Analgesic/anti-inflammatory.
Pharmacology: Indomethacin has prominent anti-inflammatory and analgesic-antipyretic properties. The drug is rapidly absorbed after oral administration; peak plasma levels are reached in 2 hours; 97% of the drug is protein-bound. It has a half-life of 2.6 to 11.2 hours; 10% to 20% of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine. Since it is a potent drug and has a potential to cause adverse effects, it should be carefully considered for active disease unresponsive to adequate trial with salicylates and other established measures.
Indomethacin (Vi-gel) Cream is indicated for variety of conditions characterized by pain and inflammation such as: Edema and post-traumatic pain after surgical operation can be alleviated through application and regular massages on the affected part.
Acute musculoskeletal disorders including low back pain, myalgia, tenositis and tenosynovitis.
Alleviates neuralgia (acute paroxysmal pain).
Relieves osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis) and gout.
Can be mixed with regular ultrasound gel during phonophoresis procedure.
Indomethacin (Vi-gel) Cream is intended for external use only.
Do not massage vigorously. To be applied 3 to 4 times a day depending on the size of the affected area and corresponding result.
Indomethacin (Vi-gel) Cream should not be used to patients who have previously exhibited hypersensitivity to indomethacin. The product is also contraindicated to children under 14 years, pregnant women, nursing mothers, patients with allergy to aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs which may induce asthma, bronchospasm, angioedema and rhinitis.
Do not apply to the eyes, mucosal surfaces or to any open skin lesions. If skin irritation develops, application of Indomethacin (Vi-gel) should be discontinued. Consult a physician if symptom persist.

Incidence of untoward effects has been reported minimal in the use of Indomethacin (Vi-gel) The side effects involved could be skin rashes, xerosis, urticaria, pruritus, asthma, dyspnea, and other gastrointestinal reactions sometimes. Also includes irritability, dizziness, light-headedness, and headache, which can be observed in rare cases.
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
