Analgesic/anti-inflammatory.
Pharmacology: Indomethacin has prominent anti-inflammatory and analgesic-antipyretic properties. The drug is rapidly absorbed after oral administration; peak plasma levels are reached in 2 hours; 97% of the drug is protein-bound. It has a half-life of 2.6 to 11.2 hours; 10% to 20% of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine. Since it is a potent drug and has a potential to cause adverse effects, it should be carefully considered for active disease unresponsive to adequate trial with salicylates and other established measures.
