Pregnancy: There is incidence of minor fetal abnormalities in infants exposed to Fluoxetine during first trimester. Also, infants exposed to Fluoxetine during the third trimester experienced more perinatal complications such as prematurity, low full-term birth weight and length, and poor neonatal adaptation compared with infants exposed only during the first and second trimester.
Lactation: Antidepressants, including SSRIs (Fluoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Paroxetine and Sertraline) are drugs whose effect on nursing infants is unknown but may be of concern. In addition, it is advised that SSRIs should be avoided by the mother during breastfeeding.
