Triamcort Special Precautions

Long-term use of corticosteroids causes posterior subcapsular, cataracts, glaucoma and increases secondary ocular infections caused by fungi or viruses.
The use of large doses of hydrocortisone causes increased blood pressure, salt and water retention and increases potassium excretion.
Be careful using steroids in non-specific ulcerative colitis, if there may be perforation of abscesses or other pyogenic infections, diverticulitis, intestinal anastomosis, active or latent peptic ulcers, renal insufficiency, hypertension, osteoporosis and myasthenia gravis.
The growth and development of infants and children in long-term use of corticosteroids should be monitored.
Be careful giving corticosteroids to patients with ocular herpes simplex because it can cause corneal perforation.
Be careful giving corticosteroids with Acetylsalicylic acid to patients with hypoprothrombinemia.
