Mycostatin Dosage/Direction for Use

Oral candidiasis: Preterm newborns: The recommended dosage is one mL (100,000 units of nystatin) four times daily.
Limited clinical studies in premature and low birth weight infants indicate that one mL four times daily is effective.
Neonates (birth-1 mth): The recommended dosage is one mL (100,000 units of nystatin) four times daily.
Babies 1 month to 2 yr old: The recommended dosage isis two mL (200,000 units of nystatin) four times daily.
Children & adults: The recommended dosage range is four to six mL (400,000 to 600,000 units of nystatin) four times daily.
Prophylaxis: Nenonates: premature babies with very low birth weight: The recommended dosage is 1 mL (100,000 units of nystatin) three times daily (should be less than 72 hrs after birth).
Adults: The recommended dosage is ten mL (1,000,000 units of nystatin) three times daily. Suspension should be retained in the mouth as long as possible (eg. several minutes) before swallowing. In infants and young children, use one-half of dose in each side of mouth.
