Candidiasis in the oral cavity. Prophylaxis to prevent fungal colonization & systemic infection of Candida sp in preterm newborns (body wt ≤1,500 g) in the 1st 72 hr of life & adults in ICU.
Oral candidiasisAdult & childn 4-6 mL (400,000 to 600,000 u) 4 times daily. Childn 1 mth-2 yr 2 mL (200,000 u) 4 times daily. Neonate (birth-1 mth) 1 mL (100,000 u) 4 times daily. Preterm newborn, premature & low birth wt infant 1 mL (100,000 u) 4 times daily. ProphylaxisAdult 10 mL (1,000,000 u) 3 times daily. Infant & young childn ½ dose in each side of mouth. Neonate, premature babies w/ very low birth wt 1 mL (100,000 u) 3 times daily (should be <72 hr after birth).
