Adjunct therapy along with a diet to reduce total cholesterol, LDL-C, apo B, and triglycerides in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed hyperlipidemia, and heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, when the response to diet and other non-pharmacological management is inadequate. Prevention of cardiovascular complications in hypertensive patients aged ≥40 with dyslipidemia and at least three risk factors such as LVH, ECG abnormalities, NIDDM, peripheral vascular disease, recent cerebrovascular disease including TIA, microalbuminuria/proteinuria, regular smoking, TC/HDL-C ratio ≥6, or a family history of CAD in a first-degree relative before age 55 (male) or 60 (female). Adjunct to diet to reduce TC, LDL-C, and apo B in boys and postmenarchal girls aged 10–17 with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, if LDL-C remains ≥190 mg/dL, or ≥160 mg/dL with a family history of premature cardiovascular disease or two or more cardiovascular risk factors after adequate dietary intervention.
