Adjunct to diet for the reduction of total cholesterol (TC), LDL-C, apo B & triglycerides in patients w/ primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed hyperlipidemia, heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia & HoFH when response to diet & other non-pharmacological management is inadequate. Prevention of CV complication in hypertensive patients ≥40 yr w/ dyslipidemia & at least 3 risk factors eg, LVH, ECG abnormalities, NIDDM, peripheral vascular disease, recent cerebrovascular disease including TIA, microalbuminuria/proteinuria, regular smoking, TC/HDL-C ratio ≥6, or a family history of CAD in a 1st-degree relative before 55 yr (male) or 60 yr (female). Adjunct to diet for the reduction of TC, LDL-C, & apo-B in boys & postmenarchal girls 10-17 yr w/ heterozygous familiar hypercholesterolemia, if LDL-C remains ≥190 mg/dL, or ≥160 mg/dL w/ family history of premature CV disease or ≥2 risk factors after adequate dietary intervention.
