Streptokinase is a highly purified protein derived from the culture filtrate of beta haemolytic streptococci of Lancefield Group C. Streptokinase has the property of combining with human plasminogen to form plasminogen activator. One international unit is the quantity of Streptokinase that will lyse the standard blood clot completely in 10 minutes.
