Per mL Latanoprost 50 mcg
Indications/Uses
Reduction of elevated IOP in patients w/ open-angle glaucoma, chronic angle closure glaucoma, & ocular HTN; paed patients w/ elevated IOP & paed glaucoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult (including the elderly) & paed 1 drop in affected eye(s) once daily, optimally in the evening. Max: Once daily. Administer at least 5 min apart if >1 topical ophth drug is being used.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Avoid in patients w/ active herpes simplex keratitis & w/ history of recurrent herpetic keratitis specifically associated w/ prostaglandin analogues. Increased brown pigmentation of iris especially those w/ mixed colored irides containing the color brown at baseline. Reversible eyelid pigmentation & eyelash changes. Macular edema including cystoid macular edema in aphakic & pseudophakic patients w/ torn posterior lens cap, or patients w/ known risk factors for macular edema. Inflammatory neovascular glaucoma. Patients w/ history of herpetic keratitis. Remove contact lenses before eye drops instillation & may reinsert after 15 min. Regularly examine patients who develop increased iris pigmentation. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <1 yr. Pre-term infants (<36 wk gestational age).
Adverse Reactions
Herpetic keratitis; dizziness, headache; eye irritation (burning, grittiness, itching, stinging & foreign body sensation), & pain, eyelash & vellus hair changes of eyelid (increased length, thickness, pigmentation & number of eyelashes), ocular hyperaemia, iris hyperpigmentation, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, macular oedema including cystoid macular oedema, photophobia, eyelid oedema, keratitis, uveitis, corneal oedema, iritis, punctate keratitis, corneal erosion, trichiasis, blurred vision, periorbital & lid changes resulting in deepening of eyelid sulcus, darkening of palpebral skin of eyelids, localized skin reaction on eyelids, iris cyst, pseudopemphigoid of ocular conjunctiva; angina, palpitations, unstable angina; asthma, dyspnoea, asthma aggravation, acute asthma attacks; rash, pruritus; myalgia, arthralgia; chest pain.
Drug Interactions
Not recommended in concomitant use of ≥2 prostaglandins, prostaglandin analogs or derivatives.
