Freeze-dried live attenuated Hepatitis A vaccine (H2 strain) ≥6.5 mg LgCCID50
Indications/Uses
Active immunization against HAV infection in persons >18 mth. Primary immunization. Pre-exposure prophylaxis of individuals at increased risk of infection & post-exposure prophylaxis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
SC Inj single dose of 0.5 mL over deltoid muscle of upper arm. Adult & childn 1 single dose is required after 18 mth of age.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. History of anaphylaxis or any other serious allergic reaction to vaccines. Acute infectious disease or other serious illness. Acute febrile illness w/ temp >37.5°C. Immunological deficiency states. Hemophilia A.
Special Precautions
Not to inj IV; administer over the buttocks. No protection against infections caused by HBV, HCV, delta virus, hepatitis E virus or other liver pathogens. Hypersensitivity. Immunocompromised persons. Avoid contact w/ any disinfectant. May be given >3 mth after γ-globulin administration. Review patient's history for possible hypersensitivity to the vaccine. Not to be used during pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Local: Pain at inj site; redness; swelling, hematoma, induration/edema; pruritus. Systemic: Fever (>37.5°C axillary); asthenia/drowsiness; headache, myalgia/arthralgia; GI disorders; behavioural changes, skin disorders.
