Cephalexin monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Infections due to susceptible microorganisms: Sinusitis, resp tract infection, otitis media, skin & skin structure infections, bone, GUT & dental infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-4 g daily in divided doses. Childn 25-50 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to penicillins. Allergic reactions. Super­infection. Marked renal impair­ment.
Adverse Reactions
Pseudomembranous colitis, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, allergic reaction, anaphylaxis.
