Acute overdosing with doxorubicin hydrochloride worsens the toxic effects of mucositis, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia. Treatment of acute overdose of the severely myelosuppressed patient consists of hospitalisation, antibiotics, platelet and granulocyte transfusions and symptomatic treatment of mucositis.
