Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Sustained-release capsule: Ambroxol HCI (Zobrixol) 75 mg capsule is white to off-white to slightly yellowish pellets encapsulated empty gelatin capsule size #2 with brown opaque cap and transparent body.
Each sustained released capsule contains: Ambroxol Hydrochloride 75 mg.
Tablet: Ambroxol HCI (Zobrixol) 30 mg tablet is white to off-white, round, plain on both sides, uncoated tablet.
Each Zobrixol tablet contains: Ambroxol hydrochloride 30 mg.
Double-strength syrup: Ambroxol HCI (Zobrixol) 30 mg/5 mL DS (Syrup) is colorless to yellowish syrup with raspeberry/peppermint flavor.
Each 5 mL Zobrixol DS contains: Ambroxol hydrochloride 30 mg.
Infant oral drops: Ambroxol HCI (Zobrixol) 6 mg/mL (Syrup Oral drops) is colorless to yellowish syrup with raspeberry/peppermint flavor.
Each mL Zobrixol Syrup Oral drops contains: Ambroxol hydrochloride 6 mg.
Zobrixol syrup: Zobrixol 15 mg/5 mL Syrup is a clear colorless syrup in strawberry flavor with a sweet fruit taste.
Each 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) contains Ambroxol Hydrochloride, PP 15 mg.

Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Zobrixol contains Ambroxol, which stimulates respiratory fluid secretion, resulting to a less sticky mucus. Ambroxol makes the mucus/phlegm easier to cough out and breathing is eased considerably.
Zobrixol syrup: Ambroxol Hydrochloride is a derivative of the mucolytic, Bromhexine, which has been found to possess secretolytic and mucokinetic properties. It acts by increasing the production of serum concentrations of the bronchial mucosecreting glands in the respiratory tract. Through its pulmonary surfactant/stimulating activity. Ambroxol Hydrochloride accelerates mucus transport, promoting expulsion of thick, tenacious secretions from the respiratory tract.
During treatment with Ambroxol Hydrochloride, chronically inflamed bronchial mucosa tend to return to normal. The patients cough and sputum volume is reduced, expectoration is facilitated; and breathing is eased considerably.
The good tolerability of Ambroxol Hydrochloride permits its long-term use.
Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: This medicine is used for the relief of cough caused by acute and chronic disorder of the respiratory tract accompanied with thick and sticky mucus such as acute and chronic bronchitis, asthmatoid bronchitis and bronchial asthma.
Zobrixol syrup: For the treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract associated with abnormal bronchial secretions particularly in exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, asthmatic bronchitis and bronchial asthma.
Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Sustained-release capsule: Adult and Children over 12 years should take 1 capsule once daily after meal with plenty of liquid (sufficient supply of liquid supports the expectorant effect of Zobrixol). Or as prescribed by the physician.
Tablet (30 mg): Children 6-12 yrs: ½ tablet 2-3 times daily.
Adults & children over 12 years: 1 tablet thrice a day for the first 2-3 days and then 1 tablet twice daily or ½ tablet thrice daily.
Double-strength (DS) syrup (30 mg/5 mL): Children 6-12 years: 2.5 mL 2-3 times a day.
Adults & children over 12 years: 5 mL thrice a day for 2-3 days, then 5 mL twice daily or 2.5 mL thrice a day.
Infant oral drops (6 mg/mL): Children 6 months and under: 0.5 mL twice a day.
Children 7-12 months: 1 mL twice a day.
Children 13-24 months: 1.25 mL twice a day.
Zobrixol syrup: Always take this medicine exactly as described in the monograph or as the doctor or pharmacist has instructed. Check with the doctor or pharmacist if the patient is not sure.
The recommended dose is: Children: 5 to 10 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 mL) 3 times a day.
2 to 5 years: ½ teaspoon (2.5 mL) 3 times a day. Or as prescribed by the physician.
Ambroxol syrup may be administered to children less than 12 years of age only upon recommendation of a doctor.
This medicine is for oral use only.
Ambroxol syrup can be taken with or without food. It is recommended to drink a glass of water after administration and plenty of liquid during the day.
Missed dose: Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: If the patient missed a dose, take the dose if still needed and subsequent doses at the usual recommended schedule. Do not exceed recommended dose.
Zobrixol syrup: If the patient forgets to take a dose, take it as soon as the patient remembers unless it is nearly time for the next dose. If this happens skip the missed dose and take the remaining dose as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Signs and Symptoms of Overdose: Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Symptoms of Ambroxol overdose include extension of undesirable effects such as gastro-intestinal disturbances (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting) and skin rashes.
Zobrixol syrup: In reports of unintentional overdosing and/or medication errors, the symptoms have largely corresponded with the known adverse effects.
Treatment: Zobrixol syrup: If manifestations of poisoning do occur symptomatic treatment is recommended.
If the patient has taken more Zobrixol (Ambroxol Hydrochloride) syrup than they should, consult a doctor or pharmacist. No specific symptoms of overdose have been reported for humans so far. Based on reports of accidental overdose and/or treatment mistakes observed signs are consistent with known side effects of Zobrixol Syrup in recommended doses and may require appropriate symptomatic treatment.
Zobrixol SR capsule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Do not take this medicine if the patient is allergic to any component in the product.
Zobrixol syrup: Do not take this medicine if the patient is allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Do not take more than the recommended dose.
Consult a physician if any adverse effect occurs.
Not recommended during the first three month of pregnancy.
If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage, consult a physician.
Consult a doctor: If symptoms persist and if any undesirable effects occur.
Zobrixol syrup: Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine: If the patient has a cough for a long time; if the patient has asthma or suffer from serious asthma attacks; if the patient has or has had liver or kidney problems; if the patient has peptic or duodenal ulcers.
Consult a doctor: Duration of treatment with Ambroxol syrup is determined individually depending on the indication and type of disease. However, if an acute respiratory illness symptoms do not improve or worsen within 5 days (within 3 days in children), consult a doctor.
Do not take medicine without consulting a doctor for more than 10 days.
Long-term use of Ambroxol syrup in chronic respiratory disease is possible only after consulting a doctor.
Zobrixol syrup: If the patient is pregnant or breast-feeding, think they may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask the doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to use this medicine during pregnancy, especially during the first 3 months.
It is not recommended to use this medicine if the patient is breast-feeding since ambroxol is excreted in breast milk.
Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Ambroxol is generally well tolerated. Gastro-intestinal disturbances (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting), transient rise in serum aminotransferase. In rare cases weakness, headache, and skin rash.
Zobrixol syrup: Ambroxol hydrochloride is generally well-tolerated. Occasional incidence of headache, polyuria, and fatigue has been reported. Also, mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur.
The medicinal product has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Zobrixol SR capule/tablet/infant oral drops/Zobrixol DS syrup: Ambroxol HCl (Zobrixol) should not be taken simultaneously with antitussive (e.g codeine), because it could lead to non-expectoration of phlegm or mucus previously liquified by Zobrixol.
Zobrixol syrup: Inform the doctor or pharmacist if the patient is taking, has recently taken or might take any other medicines.
The concomitant administration of antitussives may impair the expectoration of liquefied bronchial mucus due to inhibition of the cough reflex and cause congestion of secretions.
After using ambroxol the concentrations of the antibiotics amoxicillin, cefuroxime and erythromycin in bronchial secretions and sputum are increased.
Store at room temperature not exceeding 30°C.
Zobrixol syrup: After opening use within 6 months. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask a pharmacist how to throw away medicines the patient no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
