Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of allergy eg, hay fever & urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to loratadine. Consider precautions & contraindications associated in combination w/ pseudoephedrine.
Special Precautions
Evaluate renal function prior to initiation of therapy. Patients w/ hepatic impairment or renal insufficiency (eg, glomerular filtration <30 mL/min) including geriatric patients should be given a lower initial dose. Fixed combinations of loratadine & pseudoephedrine should not be used in patients w/ hepatic insufficiency while a lower initial dose should be received in those w/ renal insufficiency.
Adverse Reactions
Fatigue, headache, somnolence, dry mouth, GI disorder eg, nausea, gastritis, & allergic symptoms ie, rash. Thirst, blurred vision, dry nose. May discolor urine.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ ketoconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin or cimetidine. Fixed combination of loratadine & pseudoephedrine is contraindicated w/ MAOIs as pressor effects may be potentiated.
