Hexetidine is used to treat minor mouth infections (such as thrush [patches or lesions]), sore throat, gingivitis (sore or bleeding gums), and mouth ulcers.
This medicine may also be used as part of your daily mouth hygiene and before and after dental procedures.
Use Hexetidine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Shake the bottle well before using.
Do not dilute and mix the mouthwash with water. Gargle or rinse by swishing it around your mouth then spit it out.
Do not swallow this medicine.
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose to make up for a missed dose.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Hexetidine to a child. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects.
Make sure children are under supervision while they are using this medicine.
Hexetidine may cause any of the following side effects: nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, tongue or tooth discolouration, loss of taste, taste disturbance, and irritation, tingling, or numbness around the mouth or tongue.
If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor immediately. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
