Each 100 mL Topical Solution contains: Chlorhexidine Gluconate Solution BP 20 mL Eq. to Chlorhexidine Gluconate 4% w/v.
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Chlorhexidine is effective against a wide range of Gram negative and Gram positive vegetative bacteria, yeasts, dermatophyte fungi and lipophilic viruses. It is inactive against bacterial spores except at elevated temperatures.
Pharmacokinetics: Because of its cationic nature, chlorhexidine binds strongly to skin, mucosa and other tissues and is thus poorly absorbed. No detectable blood levels have been found in man following oral use and percutaneous absorption, if it occurs at all, is insignificant.
HANSOL is indicated for pre-operative surgical hand disinfection, antiseptic hand washing on the ward and pre-operative and post-operative skin antisepsis for patients undergoing elective surgery.
Directions for use: USE UNDILUTED.
For Hand Washing: Put 5 mL onto wet hands. Wash for 30 seconds. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
For Surgical Hand Washing: Repeat above step and wash for 2 min. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a sterile towel.
For Body Cleansing: On wet body, put sufficient amount of product to work up the lather. Wash as usual. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
HANSOL is contraindicated for patients who have previously shown a hypersensitivity reaction to Chlorhexidine. However, such reactions are extremely rare.
For external use only. Keep out of the eyes and avoid contact with the brain, meninges and middle ear.
If chlorhexidine solutions come into contact with the eyes, wash out promptly and thoroughly with water.
Do not inject or use in body cavities.
Use in Children and the Elderly: The normal adult dose is appropriate for children and elderly patients.
No special precautions are recommended during use in pregnancy and lactation.
Do not mix with detergents or other chemicals. Avoid contact with eyes & ears.
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light.
