Propofol 10 mg/mL is compatible with other agents for anesthesia (premedication, muscle relaxants, inhaled anesthesia, analgesics, local anesthetics). In the case of regional anesthesia procedures, smaller doses of Propofol 10 mg/mL may be necessary. No indications of severe interactions have been observed. Some of the agents mentioned may decrease the blood pressure or impair respiration, so that there can be cumulative effects with the use of Propofol 10 mg/mL. A pronounced decrease in blood pressure when inducing anesthesia with Propofol has been reported in patients that were treated with Rifampicin.
If opiates are additionally administered prior to the anesthesia, apnea can occur more frequently and for a longer period of time.
In patients that take Valproate, the necessity of lower doses of Propofol has been observed. In the case of simultaneous use, a reduction of in the Propofol dose may be considered.
