Cross-sensitivity: Patients allergic to cephalosporins, cephamycin, penicillins, penicillin-derivatives may be allergic to other cephalosporins.
Mutagenicity: Not shown.
Carcinogenicity/Fertility: Not been done.
Dental: Long term therapy may allow for overgrowth of Candida albicans (oral candidiasis).
Use in Pregnancy: Cross the placenta.
Use in Lactation: Excreted in breast milk, usually in low concentrations.
Use in Children: Lower metabolic and/or renal clearance with resulting prolonged half-life.
Use in Elderly: No problems have been documented. However, elderly patients are more likely to have an age-related decrease in renal function, which may require an adjustment of dosage and/or dosing interval.
