Adverse Reactions

Signs of potential side effects, especially pseudomembranous colitis, allergic reactions, hypoprothrombinemia, oral candidiasis, seizures, hypersensitivity, gastrointestinal and serum sickness-like reactions, vaginitis, thrombophlebitis, especially pseudomembranous colitis, and the need for medical attention if they occur after medication is discontinued.
Treatment: If hypersensitivity reactions occur, cephalosporin should be discontinued and should be treated with usual (epinephrine or other pressor amines, antihistamines, or adrenocorticoids), oxygen, and airway management, including intubation. If seizures occur, cephalosporin should be discontinued. Anticonvulsants may be administered if clinically indicated.
