Ascorbic acid (vit C) 500 mg (equiv to 568.11 mg of Na ascorbate), thiamine mononitrate (vit B1) 50 mg, riboflavin (vit B2) 20 mg, niacinamide (vit B3) 20 mg, Ca pantothenate (vit B5) 20 mg, pyridoxine HCl (vit B6) 5 mg, cyanocobalamin (vit B12) 4 mcg, d-α-tocopheryl acid succinate (vit E) 11 IU, Zn sulfate (equiv to 27.5 mg Zn sulfate monohydrate) 10 mg
Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of vit & mineral deficiencies.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Adverse Reactions
Headache, paresthesia; nausea; sleepiness; flushing; heartburn, vomiting; blurred vision; diarrhea; flatulence; abdominal pain/intestinal cramps. Riboflavin (vit B2): Yellow-orange urine discoloration. Niacinamide: Hunger pain, syncope, vasovagal attack; tachycardia; abdominal distention; increased sebaceous gland activity, pruritus. Pyridoxine HCl (vit B6): Allergic reaction; increased serum AST; decreased serum folic acid conc. Na ascorbate (vit C): Hemolysis (after large oral doses of vit C in patients w/ G6PD deficiency); delayed-type allergic response; insomnia; abdominal cramps, esophagitis (rare), flatulent distention, gastric discomfort, intestinal obstruction (rare), nausea, transient colic. Increased urination (mild), kidney stone formation; erosion of dental enamel. d-α-tocopheryl acid succinate (vit E): Gonadal dysfunction, thyroid problems; emotional disturbances; dizziness; HTN, thrombophlebitis; rash; myopathy; creatinuria; breast soreness/gynecomastia; fatigue/weakness; decreased serum thyroxine & triiodothyronine; increased serum creatinine kinase, serum cholesterol, triglycerides, urinary estrogens & androgens. Zn: Loss of appetite; drowsiness; metallic taste; gastritis, GI discomfort/irritation.
Drug Interactions
Niacinamide: May decrease carbamazepine clearance. Pyridoxine HCl (vit B6): Reversed effects of l-dopa. Decrease serum level of phenobarb & phenytoin. May enhance amiodarone-induced photosensitivity reactions. Na ascorbate (vit C): Increased risk of Al toxicity w/ antacids. Increased urinary excretion of ascorbic acid & decreased excretion of aspirin. May interfere w/ alcohol-disulfiram reaction. Decreases plasma level of fluphenazine. May accelerate excretion of mexiletine. Increases apparent t1/2 w/ paracetamol. Reduced blood levels w/ OCs (containing estrogens). Decreased anticoagulant effect of warfarin. D-α-tocopheryl acid succinate (vit E): May result in hemorrhage w/ anticoagulants. May potentiate effects of antiplatelets (eg, aspirin, clopidogrel, ticlopidine) & herbs w/ antithrombotic activity (eg, garlic & ginkgo). Lowered plasma levels w/ anticonvulsants (eg, phenobarb, phenytoin, carbamazepine) & OCs. May decrease/impair absorption w/ cholestyramine, colestipol, INH, mineral oil, neomycin, orlistat, or sucralfate. May reduce the requirement for digoxin & insulin. May decrease antioxidative effect of a supplement containing vit E. Enhanced side effects of some drugs (eg, amiodarone, ciclosporin, & zidovudine). Zn: Decreased absorption w/ quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin) & tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline). Decreased absorption w/ bisphosphonates (eg, alendronate, etidronate, risedronate). Additive effects w/ cholesterol medicines. Inhibits absorption w/ Cu & Fe. Reduce absorption of penicillamine. Reduced absorption w/ caffeine or tea, high levels of P, Ca (dairy), phytates (eg, bran, brown bread), or folic acid.
