Cisplatin
Indications/Uses
Metastatic testicular & ovarian tumors, advanced bladder carcinoma, testicular/ovarian neoplasms, head & neck cancer, cervical carcinoma, lung cancer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Testicular, bladder or prostatic cancer 15-20 mg/m2 IV once for 5 consecutive days every 3 wk or 25-35 mg/m2 once wkly. Ovarian neoplasm 50-70 mg/m2 once every 4 wk or follow dosage for testicular neoplasm. Head & neck cancer 10-20 mg/m2 once daily for 5 consecutive days every 3 wk or 50-70 mg/m2 once every 4 wk. Lung carcinoma 70-90 mg/m2 once every 4 wk or 20 mg/m2 once daily for 5 consecutive days every 3 wk. Esophageal cancer 50-70 mg/m2 once every 4 wk or 15-20 mg/m2 once daily for 5 consecutive days every 3 wk. Uterine & neck cancer 15-20 mg/m2 once daily for 5 consecutive days every 3 wk or 70-90 mg/m2 once every 4 wk. Gastric cancer 70-90 mg/m2 once every 4 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Preexisting renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment, bone marrow depression, hearing disorder. Infection & bleeding tendency. May have an anti-fertility effect. Do not use Al-containing needles or IV sets. Do not inject w/ other anti-tumor agents. Pregnancy & lactation. Women of childbearing potential. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, constipation, stomatitis, nephrotoxicity; myelosuppression, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia; ototoxicity, rash; neurotoxicity; loss of taste, seizures, peripheral neuropathies; transient elevations of serum AST (SGOT), ALT (SGPT) & bilirubin conc; CHF, palmus, tachycardia, atrial fibrillation; serious electrolyte disturbances; mild alopecia, hiccups, myalgia, pyrexia, gingival platinum line. 
Drug Interactions
Increased depressed bone marrow function in concomitant use w/ other antitumor agents & radiation exposure. Increased ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity w/ aminoglycoside antibiotics.
