Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker with actions similar to those of nifedipine. It is used in the treatment of hypertension and coronary artery disease such as chronic stable angina and angiographically documented coronary artery disease in patients with heart failure or an ejection fraction <40%.
