Calcium carbonate, cholecalciferol.
Each Film Coated Tablet contains: Calcium (as Carbonate) BP 500 mg, Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) BP 400 IU.
This medicine contains Calcium and Vitamin D3 which are nutrients for treatment of patients who are at risk of Vitamin D and Calcium deficiency, and used as prevention to osteoporosis.
A medicine with Calcium and Vitamin D3 which help in prevention and/or treatment of osteoporosis, fractures, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, pseudo-parathyroidism, for healthy bone formation and maintenance and other calcium and/or Vitamin D deficiencies and to meet increased needs of calcium and/or vitamin D.
Adult dose, take one tablet by mouth twice daily with food or as prescribed by physician.
Missed Dose: If the patient misses one dose, take it as soon as the patient remembers and continue with the normal schedule.
Do not take more than the prescribed dose unless recommended by the physician.
Sign and Symptoms of Overdose: Doses greater than 2 g elemental Calcium per day can cause kidney stones, which may result to kidney damage. High ingestion of Vitamin D (50,000 - 100,000 IU) daily may result to hypervitaminosis D. Clinical sign and symptoms are loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, intense thirst, frequent urination, dehydration, hypertension, constipation, weakness, fatigue, hypercalcaemia (excessive calcium levels in the blood) and hypercalciuria (excess calcium in the urine).
When Taken More Than the Recommended Dosage: If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage, consult a physician or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
In patients with hypercalcaemia, severe hypercalciurea, ventricular fibrillation, hypervitaminosis.
In patients with severe renal failure, kidney stones and hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the products.
Do not take more than the recommended dose unless prescribed by the physician.
Should be used under the direction of a physician during pregnancy and lactation. The doses of vitamin D greater than the recommended dietary allowance should be used only when clearly needed.
When To Consult a Doctor: If any undesirable effects occur.
Pregnant and lactating women should have regular consultation with their physician.
Calcium: Constipation, headache, mild hypercalcemia associated with anorexia, nausea and vomiting, more severe hypercalcemia associated with confusion, delirium, stupor and coma have been reported with calcium supplements.
Vitamin D: Weakness, headache, somnolence, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, muscle pain, bone pain, metallic taste, polyuria, polydipsia, anorexia, weight loss, nocturia and mild acidosis have been reported with the use of Vitamin D.
Co-administration of calcium with some drugs such as tetracycline antibiotics (e.g doxycycline, minocycline), estramustine, levothyroxine and quinolone antibiotics (e.g ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin) can decrease the absorption of both calcium and co administered drug.
Bile acid sequestrates such as cholestyramine/colestipol, ketoconazole, mineral oil, orlistat these medications can decrease the absorption of vitamin D.
Phenytoin and Phenobarbital can increase the absorption of Vitamin D.
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
Store in a cool and dry place protected from light.
