Indications/Uses
Signs & symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take after breakfast or 1st meal of the day in an upright position. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. History of orthostatic hypotension. Severe hepatic insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Not indicated for treatment of HTN. BP reduction can occur in individual cases during treatment, may result to syncope (rarely). Patient should sit or lie down at 1st signs of orthostatic hypotension (dizziness, weakness) until symptoms disappear. Intra-operative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS) during cataract surgery. Perform digital rectal exam, & when necessary, PSA determination before treatment & at regular intervals afterwards. Patients should be aware that dizziness can occur. No data on whether it can adversely affect ability to drive or operate machines. Caution in patients w/ severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min). Not applicable in pregnancy; intended for male patients only.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, abnormal ejaculation. Headache, asthenia, postural hypotension & palpitations. IFIS.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma levels w/ cimetidine. Decreased plasma levels w/ furosemide. May increase elimination rate w/ diclofenac & warfarin. Hypotensive effects w/ other α1-adrenoceptor antagonists.
