Why do I need this medicine?
Crotamiton is used for the treatment of scabies (an itchy rash caused by mites that live under the skin).

It is also used to relieve other skin conditions that cause itching and skin irritation.
How do I use this medicine?
Apply Crotamiton exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Crotamiton is available as a cream or as a lotion.

If you are using the cream or lotion to treat scabies, follow these steps:
  1. Clean, dry, and cool your body before application. Wait at least 1 hour after bathing or showering before application. Do not apply any other lotions, creams, or oil before you apply this medicine.
  2. Shake the bottle of the lotion well before use.
  3. Apply a thin layer of the Crotamiton cream or lotion all over the skin from the neck down to the toes. Apply the cream or lotion under the fingernails using a toothbrush after trimming the nails short; immediately wrap the toothbrush in a paper after use. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the areas applied with this medicine.
  4. Replace the cap of the tube and immediately throw it away in a trash can along with the used toothbrush wrapped in paper.
  5. Do not wash or bathe for 48 hours.
  6. After 48 hours, wash off or rinse in the usual manner. Warm water may be used.
Avoid contact with the face, eyes, mouth, or nose. Rinse immediately with water if it gets into your eyes or mouth. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.

If you are applying Crotamiton cream or lotion on another person, wear gloves made of nitrile, latex with neoprene or sheer vinyl. Do not use gloves made of natural latex.

Different formulations of this medicine may be available in certain countries. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how to properly use your medicine.
