Indications/Uses
Minor mouth & throat irritation. Relief & prevention of painful infection as in pharyngitis, oral moniliasis, tonsillitis, aphthous ulcers, stomatitis, gingivitis, mouth & pharynx inflammatory conditions.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Gargle/rinse undiluted or diluted w/ equal vol of warm water for at least 30 sec. Repeat every 2-4 hr bd-qds or as directed.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Thyroid problem. Patients to receive or are currently receiving radioactive iodine treatment; use of Hg-containing products eg, thiomersal. Childn <1 yr.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if sensitivity, redness, irritation, swelling, pain persists/increases or infection occurs. Patients w/ other illnesses or health conditions; received radioactive iodine treatments w/in last 4 wk & using before any diagnostic test. May interfere w/ thyroid function tests. Avoid concomitant use w/ hydrogen peroxide-, silver-, taurolidine-, octenidine-containing prep. Avoid contact w/ eyes & application to large areas of broken skin. Not to be applied w/ other medications to same affected areas. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation. Childn 1-6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Cough, skin irritation, redness, swelling, small blisters, itching or dryness, tiredness, weakness, confusion, rapid shallow breathing, passing little or no urine, fluid retention, swelling of legs, ankle & feet.
