Description
Each capsule contains: Acetylcysteine 200 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Acetylcysteine is a natural amino acid derivative of cysteine. N-acetylcysteine has fluidification activity through free sulfhydryl groups on mucoid or mucopurulent secretions by cutting intra-molecular and inter-molecular disulfide bridges in glycoprotein aggregates. N-acetylcysteine has good intestinal tolerance, is quickly absorbed after oral administration and distributed throughout the body including the lungs.
Indications/Uses
Mucolytic therapy in acute and chronic bronchial and pulmonary diseases with thick mucus, such as: acute bronchitis, recurrent chronic and acute bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, mucoviscidosis and bronchiectasis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children aged 14 years and over: 1 capsule 2-3 times a day (equivalent to 400-600 mg ACETIN 200 per day).
Pediatric 6-14 years: 1 capsule 2 times a day (equivalent to 400 mg of ACETIN 200 per day).
In the case of mucoviscidosis: Children 6 years and over: 1 capsule 3 times/day (equivalent to 600 mg of ACETIN 200 per day).
For children under 6 years are considered for other suitable preparations.
ACETIN 200 capsules are given after meals, with some water.
Overdosage
In unintentional cases, irritation may occur, such as pyrosis, stomachache, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. So far there have been no reports of serious side effects or symptoms of poisoning, even with very high overdoses. Stay in contact with the doctor.
Contraindications
Hypersensitive to Acetylcysteine and other compositions.
Special Precautions
During treatment, patients with asthma must be monitored, treatment should be stopped if there are signs of bronchospasm.
The smell of sulfur is not a sign that the drug is damaged, merely a drug substance property.
In patients with a history of gastritis, it should be given after meals.
The mucolytic work of Acetylcysteine capsules is aided by adequate fluid intake.
Duration of use of Acetylcysteine capsules: Duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease, and must be determined by visiting a doctor.

Acetylcysteine capsules are not recommended for children under 6 years.

Adverse Reactions
Possible side effects with the use of Acetylcysteine capsules such as pyrosis, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are rare. Giving together with Acetylcysteine capsules may cause an increase in vasodilating effects and blood flow from Glycerol trinitrate (Nitroglycerin).
