Contents
Per 100/25/200 mg FC tab Levodopa 100 mg, carbidopa 25 mg, entacapone 200 mg. Per 200/50/200 mg FC tab Levodopa 200 mg, carbidopa 50 mg, entacapone 200 mg
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab each time. 100/25/200 mg FC tab Max: 10 tab daily. 200/50/200 mg FC tab Max: 7 tab daily.
Administration
May not be well absorbed if taken w/ protein-rich food in some patients.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ selective MAO-A & MAO-B inhibitors, or non-selective MAOIs. Patients w/ narrow-angle glaucoma; adrenal gland tumor; history of NMS; history of non-traumatic rhabdomyolysis; severe liver disease.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ existing or history of heart attack or any other diseases of the heart or blood vessels; asthma or any other disease of the lungs; liver problem; kidney- or hormone-related diseases; stomach ulcers or convulsions; prolonged diarrhoea; any form of severe mental disorder; chronic wide-angle glaucoma; patients due to have surgery. Not recommended for treatment of extrapyramidal symptoms caused by other medicines. Risk of muscles getting very rigid or violently jerking; tremors, agitation, confusion, fever, rapid pulse, or wide fluctuations in BP; depression, suicidal thoughts, or unusual changes in behaviour; suddenly falling asleep or feeling very drowsy; uncontrolled movements or worsening after treatment initiation; diarrhoea; progressive anorexia, asthenia & decreased wt. Observe patients for addiction-like symptoms & impulse control disorders. Concomitant use w/ antipsychotics; medicine which may cause low BP when rising from a chair or bed. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy. Do not breast-feed during treatment. Not recommended in childn & adolescents <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dyskinesias; nausea; harmless reddish-brown discoloration of urine; muscle pain; diarrhoea. Light-headedness or fainting due to low or high BP; worsening of Parkinson's symptoms, dizziness, drowsiness; vomiting, abdominal pain & discomfort, heartburn, dry mouth, constipation; inability to sleep, hallucinations, confusion, abnormal dreams (including nightmares), tiredness; mental changes, including problems w/ memory, anxiety & depression (possibly w/ suicidal thoughts); heart or artery disease events (eg, chest pain), irregular heart rate or rhythm; more frequent falling; dyspnoea; increased sweating, rashes; muscle cramps, swelling of legs; blurred vision; anaemia; decreased appetite &/or wt; feeling of weakness, fatigue; abnormal gait; headache, joint pain; UTI.
Drug Interactions
Increased effects of antidepressants (eg, moclobemide, amitriptyline, desipramine, maprotiline, venlafaxine, paroxetine); rimiterol, isoprenaline; adrenaline; noradrenaline, dopamine, dobutamine; α-methyldopa; apomorphine. Weakened effects w/ dopamine antagonists; phenytoin; papaverine. Difficulty in digestion of Fe supplements. May not be well-absorbed if taken w/ protein-rich food (eg, meats, fish, dairy products, seeds, nuts).
