Moxifloxacin HCl
Indications/Uses
Conjunctivitis or keratitis (including corneal ulcer). Aseptic treatment during perioperative period for ocular surgery. Bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible organisms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Keratitis (including corneal ulcer) Instill 1 drop into affected eye(s) tid for 7-14 days, up to 8 times daily. Prevention of infection before & after ocular surgery Instill 1 drop into affected eye(s) 5 times daily before ocular surgery 2 days & tid on surgery day until 14th day after surgery. Bacterial conjunctivitis Instill 1 drop into affected eye(s) tid for 4 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or any quinolones.
Special Precautions
Discontinue if eye redness/swelling, rash, muscle pain, tendinopathy; superinfection occur. Not for inj or subconjunctival inj or administration directly into the anterior chamber. Overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi w/ prolonged use. Hepatotoxicity or renal toxicity. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <1 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, ocular dryness, discomfort/pain/pruritus & hyperemia, keratitis, subconjunctival hemorrhage & tearing. Fever, increased cough, infection, otitis media, pharyngitis, rash & rhinitis.
