Povidone iodine is used to clean the surface and the region surrounding your eyes before eye surgery.
Povidone iodine eye solution will be prepared and administered right before an eye surgery.
Your doctor or nurse will administer the solution for you.
Do not use Povidone iodine with antibiotic eye drops or eye drops containing mercury-based preservatives.
Inform your doctor if you have thyroid disorder.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Povidone iodine may cause any of the following side effects: reddening of eye and inflammation of the cornea (clear membrane on the front surface of the eye).
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
DO NOT use Povidone iodine if you are using antibiotic eye drops or other eye drops containing mercury-based preservatives.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Do not freeze.
Protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
