Felodipine.
Description
Each extended release tablet contains Felodipine 5 mg, 10 mg.
Action
Feloten Tablet is a vascular selective calcium antagonist which lowers arterial blood pressure by decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. Feloten Tablet exhibits a high degree of selectivity for smooth muscle in the arterioles and in therapeutic doses has no direct effect on cardiac contractility or conduction. Feloten Tablet is seldom associated with orthostatic hypotension because of its lack of effect on venous smooth muscle and on adrenergic vasomotor control.
Indications/Uses
Hypertension.
Angina Pectoris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Hypertension: Adult: The starting dose is 5 mg once a day. The usual maintenance doses are 5 mg or 10 mg once a day. If necessary the dose may be increased but not more than 20 mg.

Adverse Reactions
Flushing, headache, palpitation, dizziness and fatigue may occur. These reactions are usually transient and diminish in intensity with time.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant administration of drugs which interfere with the cytochrome P450 system may affect plasma concentrations of felodipine.
Enzyme inhibitors (cimetidine, erythromycin) have been shown to cause in felodipine plasma levels. Enzyme inducers (phenytoin, carbamazepine, barbiturates) will cause a decrease in felodipine plasma levels.
Storage
Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light and moisture.
MIMS Class
