Action
Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate is a synthetic soluble corticosteroid, 30 times as effective as cortisone. It is applied to treat inflammations of the lids, conjunctiva and anterior segment of the globe.
The action of Dexamethasone is to inhibit phospholipase A2 and the chemotactic migration of neutropic cells into the focus of inflammation.
Chloramphenicol is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is effective against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative organism, including some strains of Pseudomonas, salmonella, rickettsiae and chlamydiae (trachoma). It is used for conjunctival infections and blepharitis, keratitis, dacryocystitis which caused by susceptible organism, corneal ulcers, trachoma, traumatism of the eyes. The action mechanism is the selective inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
Tetrahydrozoline HCl is a sympathomimetic agent with α-adrenergic activity. It is a vasoconstrictor with a rapid and prolonged action in reducing swelling and congestion when applied to mucous membranes.
