Per 0.5 mL Tetanus toxoid 7.5 Lf, diphtheria toxoid 2 Lf, Bordetella pertussis antigens: Recombinant pertussis toxin (rPT) 2 mcg, filamentous haemagglutinin (FHA) 5 mcg

Indications/Uses

Active booster immunization against tetanus, diphtheria & whooping cough in individuals ≥9 yr. Pertussis immunization in healthcare providers to prevent nosocomial transmission to infants & maternal immunization in pregnant women for prevention of pertussis in infants too young to be vaccinated.

IM Inj in deltoid region. Administer 0.5 mL as single dose.

Overdosage

View Boostagen-2 overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity or life-threatening reaction to DPT vaccines. Encephalopathy w/ unknown aetiology eg, coma, prolonged seizures, or decreased level of consciousness w/in 7 days following previous vaccination w/ any pertussis vaccine; progressive or unstable neurological disorders, uncontrolled epilepsy or progressive encephalopathy.

Special Precautions

Appropriate medical care should be readily available in case of rare anaphylactic reaction after vaccination. Not indicated for primary immunization. Postpone vaccination in patients suffering from acute severe febrile illness; until end of treatment or resolution of disease in case of immunosuppressive treatment or immunodeficiency. Patients who experienced high fever (≥40°C) w/o any identifiable causes, convulsions & collapse or shock-like state w/in 48 hr after immunization w/ any pertussis vaccines; w/ bleeding disorders, thrombocytopenia or on anticoagulant therapy. Review medical history & a clinical exam prior to vaccination.

Adverse Reactions

Pain, redness & pruritus at inj site, fatigue, malaise; headache; myalgia, arthralgia. Swelling & induration at inj site, chills, fever (≥38°C); vomiting, nausea; pain in extremity; insomnia.
