Per 0.5 mL Tetanus toxoid 7.5 Lf, diphtheria toxoid 2 Lf, purified Bordetella pertussis antigens: Recombinant pertussis toxin (PT_gen) 5 mcg, filamentous haemagglutinin (FHA) 5 mcg

Indications/Uses

Active booster immunization against DPT in individuals ≥3 yr. Pertussis immunization in healthcare providers to prevent nosocomial transmission to infants & maternal immunization in pregnant women for pertussis prevention in infants too young to be vaccinated.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IM Inj in deltoid region. Administer 0.5 mL as single dose.

Overdosage

View Boostagen overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to tetanus & diphtheria toxoid, purified Bordetella pertussis antigens, or formaldehyde. Past experience or signs of severe allergic reaction or any encephalopathy w/ unknown origin following administration of pertussis vaccines or to any components of the vaccine; neurological disorders, uncontrolled epilepsy or progressive encephalopathy.

Special Precautions

Appropriate medical care should be readily available in case of rare anaphylactic reaction after vaccination. Not indicated for primary immunization. Not to administered IV. Postpone vaccination in patients suffering from acute severe febrile illness. Syncope (fainting). Immunosuppressed patients. Patients who experienced high fever (≥40°C) w/in 48 hr after immunization w/ any pertussis vaccines w/o any identifiable causes; receiving anticoagulant therapy or those w/ thrombocytopenia or any coagulation disorder. Review medical history prior to vaccination. Administer at different inj site if to be given concomitantly w/ other vaccines or Ig.

Adverse Reactions

Pain, redness, induration & pruritus at inj site, fatigue, malaise, fever (≥38°C), chills; headache; myalgia, arthralgia. Swelling at inj site, fever (≥37.5°C); vomiting, nausea; pain in extremity.
