Contains 7.5% Povidone-lodine equivalent to 0.75% available iodine.
SURGICAL SCRUB: Antiseptic skin cleanser.
The multipurpose antiseptic.
Indications/Uses
A microbicidal antiseptic cleanser with a large spectrum of activity for the pre-operative and postoperative scrubbing or washing by hospital operating personnel and for general use in the physician's office.
Its microbicidal effect is achieved immediately without waiting for a cumulative built up.
Patient Counseling Information
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: A. For Pre-operative Washing by Operating Personnel: 1. Wet hands with water. Pour about 5 cc. (1 teaspoonful) of Betadine Surgical Scrub on the palm of the hand and spread over both hands. Without adding more water, rub the scrub thoroughly over all areas for about five minutes. Use a brush if desired. Clean thoroughly under fingernails. Add a little water and develop copious suds. Rinse thoroughly under running water.
2. Complete the wash by scrubbing another 5 cc. of Betadine Surgical Scrub in the same way.
B. For Pre-operative use on Patients: After the skin area is shaved, wet it with water. Apply Betadine Surgical Scrub (1 cc. is sufficient to cover an area of 20-30 square inches) and rub thoroughly for about five minutes. Then develop a lather and rinse off by aid of sterile gauze saturated with water. The area may then be painted with Betadine Antiseptic Solution or sprayed with Betadine Aerosol Spray and allowed to dry.
C. For Use in the Physician's office: Use for washing whenever a germicidal soap is required. For maximum degerming of the hands proceed as under (A). To prepare the patient's skin proceed as under (B).
D. For disinfection for hand hygiene including during periods of infectious disease outbreaks: Apply 3 cc of the product on the palm, spread evenly and rub for 1 minute. Rinse hands with water and towel dry.
Note: Blue stains on starched linen will wash off with soap and water.
