Amikacin sulfate

Indications/Uses

Short-term treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of gm -ve bacteria.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IM/IV Adult 15 mg/kg daily divided bid. Neonate Initial Loading dose: Initially 10 mg/kg followed by 15 mg/kg daily in divided doses.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides.

Special Precautions

Impaired renal function. Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity.
