Adverse Reactions

Zoltax: Gastrointestinal disturbances including drug diarrhea, nausea and vomiting have occurred in some patients receiving cefuroxime axetil. There have been reports of erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Mild to moderate hearing loss has been reported in some children receiving cefuroxime for the treatment of meningitis.
In clinical trials of cefuroxime axetil, diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis appeared to be dose-related and therefore, it is recommended that higher doses should be reserved for severe infections.
