Indications/Uses
Adjunct treatment of stable angina pectoris inadequately controlled by or intolerant to 1st-line anti-anginal agents; CHF.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1 tab every morning & evening. Patient w/ moderate renal impairment (CrCl 30-60 mL/min) & elderly 1 tab every morning.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take at mealtime. Swallow whole w/ a glass of water, do not chew/crush, since this may cause inappropriate release & absorption of the drug.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Parkinson's disease, parkinsonian symptoms, tremors, restless leg syndrome, & other movement-related disorders. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min). Pregnancy & breastfeeding.
Special Precautions
Not a curative treatment for angina attacks, nor an initial treatment for unstable angina pectoris. Not a treatment for MI. May cause or worsen parkinsonian symptoms (eg, tremor, akinesia, hypertonia), particularly in elderly. Permanently stop therapy in patients who develop movement disorders & seek neurologist consultation if movement disorders persist >4 mth after treatment discontinuation. Falls may occur, related to gait instability or hypotension, particularly in patients taking anti-hypertensive treatment. Caution in patients w/ renal impairment (CrCl 30-60 mL/min); elderly. May affect ability to drive or use machines.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, rash, pruritus, urticaria, & asthenia. Agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytopenic purpura; parkinsonian symptoms (tremor, akinesia, hypertonia), gait instability, restless leg syndrome, other movement-related disorders (insomnia, drowsiness); palpitations, extrasystoles, tachycardia; arterial hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, flushing; constipation; hepatitis; acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, angioedema.
