Valtrex Indications/Uses

Valaciclovir (Valtrex) is indicated for the treatment of herpes zoster (shingles). Valaciclovir (Valtrex) accelerates the resolution of pain: it reduces the duration of and the proportion of patients with zoster-associated pain, which includes acute and post-herpetic neuralgia.
Valaciclovir (Valtrex) is indicated for the treatment of herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including initial and recurrent genital herpes.
Valaciclovir (Valtrex) is indicated for the treatment of herpes labialis (cold sores).
Valaciclovir (Valtrex) is indicated for the prevention (suppression) of recurrent herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including genital herpes.
Valaciclovir (Valtrex) can reduce transmission of genital herpes when taken as suppressive therapy and combined with safer sex practices.
Valaciclovir (Valtrex) is indicated for the prophylaxis of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection and disease, following organ transplantation. CMV prophylaxis with Valaciclovir (Valtrex) reduces acute graft rejection (renal transplant patients), opportunistic infections and other herpes virus infections (herpes simplex virus (HSV), varicella zoster virus (VZV)).
