Overdosage
Signs and Symptoms of Overdose: Vitamin C: Prolonged intake of Vitamin C of more than 2 g per day may lead to nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and nose bleeding. A high dose of vitamin C may also lead to gastrointestinal obstruction, esophagitis, and elevated serum glucose level. In patients with kidney disease, excessive vitamin C may contribute to a kidney stone. In patients with hemochromatosis, a metabolic disease that cause excess iron accumulation, high vitamin C intake may also boost iron absorption.
Vitamin D3: Vitamin D toxicity can lead to a build-up of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia), which can cause nausea and vomiting, weakness, and frequent urination. Vitamin D toxicity might lead to bone pain and kidney problems due to the formation of kidney stones.
Vitamin E: Doses of vitamin E greater than 1,000 mg (equivalent to 1,490 IU) daily for prolonged periods have occasionally been associated with the increased bleeding tendency in vitamin K-deficient patients such as those taking oral anticoagulants. It may increase the risk of thrombosis in some patients, such as those taking estrogen.
Boron Citrate: Boron is likely safe when used in doses that don't exceed 20 mg daily. Boron is possibly unsafe when taken in higher doses. Doses over 20 mg daily might cause male fertility problems. Large doses can also cause poisoning. Signs of poisoning include irritability, tremors, weakness, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, and other symptoms.
Calcium Carbonate: Symptoms of overdose may include; nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, mental/mood changes, headache, weakness, dizziness. If calcium carbonate is administered by a healthcare provider in a medical setting, it is unlikely that an overdose will occur. However, if overdose is suspected, seek emergency medical attention.
Copper as cupric oxide: Cirrhosis and acute liver failure have been attributed to chronic excessive copper supplement ingestion. Supplementation with 10 mg daily of copper (around the safe upper limit) for 2 months has been reported to be associated with a transient mild increase in serum aminotransferase values. Excessive levels of copper accumulate in various parts of the body can lead to Wilson's disease, symptoms may vary depending on the parts of the body affected such as Fatigue, lack of appetite or abdominal pain, jaundice, golden-brown eye discoloration (Kayser-Fleischer rings), fluid buildup in the legs or abdomen, speech problem, swallowing or physical coordination, uncontrolled movements or muscle stiffness.
Magnesium: Doses up to 350 mg of Magnesium daily have been reported to be safe in most adults. Symptoms of magnesium toxicity include diarrhea and other gastrointestinal effects, thirst, muscle weakness, drowsiness, back pain, pelvic pain, hypotension, dizziness, confusion, difficulty breathing, lethargy, and deterioration of kidney function. Severe symptoms caused by magnesium overdose include loss of consciousness, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.
Manganese as sulfate monohydrate: Excessive manganese levels can lead to manganism that causes psychiatric, motor disturbances, and neurologic symptoms consisting of reduced response speed, irritability, mood changes, and compulsive behaviors.
Zinc as zinc oxide: Exposure to Zinc Oxide can cause "metal fume fever". This is a flu-like illness with symptoms of metallic taste in the mouth, headache, fever and chills, aches, chest tightness and cough. The symptoms may be delayed for several hours after exposure and usually last for a day or two.
