Contents
Fe (equiv to 65 mg elemental Fe)
Indications/Uses
For the prevention & treatment of Fe deficiency anemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1 tab once daily. Pregnant & lactating women 1 tab once daily or bid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Primary hemochromatosis, peptic ulcer, regional enteritis or ulcerative colitis. Receiving Fe inj or blood transfusions.
Adverse Reactions
GI effects eg, nausea, vomiting, bloating & upper abdominal discomfort. Black stools, diarrhea or constipation.
Drug Interactions
Decreased absorption w/ antacids & tetracyclines. Decreased conc of quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin & ofloxacin). Delayed response to Fe therapy w/ chloramphenicol. Decreased absorption & reduced bioavailability of carbidopa, levodopa, methyldopa & penicillamine.
