Per g Benzocaine 10 mg, boric acid 50 mg, eucalyptus oil 15 mg
Indications/Uses
Temporary relief of pain & itching associated w/ minor burns.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & child ≥12 yr Apply thinly bid-tid. Do not use large amounts or for longer than 7 days.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Avoid contact w/ the eyes, ears, mouth, & other mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin or over large areas of the body; use on deep puncture wounds or on serious burns; use tight bandages or a heating pad.
Adverse Reactions
Benzocaine: Irregular heartbeat, seizures, difficulty in breathing, coma & death. Boric acid: Skin sensitivity. Eucalyptus: laryngeal spasms & subsequent resp arrest. Skin redness, contact urticaria (small swellings on the skin surrounded by areas of redness) & itching, followed by a maculopapular rash w/ Eucalyptus use (rarely).
Drug Interactions
May increase the risk of hypoglycemia w/ antidiabetics.
